ABOUT MATT
Matthew (Matt) Kennedy, MA, RP (he/him) brings over 15 years of experience in the mental health and addictions field. He uses an eclectic and integrative psychotherapeutic approach to meet each client’s unique needs and emphasizes building client capacity to manage symptoms throughout the course of treatment.
Matt is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a structured and effective approach for treating trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. His practice is grounded in a nervous system-informed framework, recognizing the central role of physiological regulation in emotional and psychological well-being.
Matt is also certified in HeartMath® HRV biofeedback, a research-based method that helps clients improve emotional regulation and build resilience by learning to shift their heart rate variability patterns through guided breathing and coherence-building techniques.
He offers non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) as an optional, add-on service to complement psychotherapy. Using the Dolphin Neurostim® device, VNS applies microcurrent stimulation to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, supporting reductions in stress and potential improvements in mood, sleep, digestion, and overall nervous system function.
Please note that VNS sessions are billed separately.
They say that “laughter is the best medicine,” and Matt agrees. Known for his sense of humour and signature dad jokes, he brings warmth and levity into the therapeutic space. Psychotherapy can be tough work, and he’s always happy to offer a laugh or two along the way.
