All About Registered Massage Therapy Services (RMT)

  • Benefits of Registered Massage Therapy:

    • Relieves muscle tension & pain – eases tight, sore, or overworked muscles.

    • Supports injury recovery – promotes healing and restores mobility after strains, sprains, or accidents.

    • Improves circulation & flexibility – enhances blood flow and joint range of motion.

    • Reduces stress & anxiety – calms the nervous system and encourages deep relaxation.

    • Boosts athletic performance – aids in recovery, prevents injuries, and optimizes movement.

    • Enhances posture & alignment – addresses imbalances that contribute to chronic pain.

    • Promotes overall wellness – supports immune function, energy levels, and better sleep.

  • RMT sessions at Spear Wellness Centre are covered, if you have coverage under your insurance benefits for Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) appointments. You will be able to submit your receipts for reimbursement with your insurance provider directly!

  • For movement-based or integrated massage therapy sessions (where exercise or stretching may be included), comfortable athletic wear (such as shorts, leggings, or a tank top/t-shirt) is recommended.

  • Most insurance plans do not require a doctor’s note to access Registered Massage Therapy. However, some plans may request one for reimbursement, so it’s best to check with your provider.

  • Some techniques may cause mild discomfort as tension is released, but massage should never be painful. Your therapist will check in with you throughout the session and adjust pressure to your comfort level.

  • This depends on your goals. Some clients come weekly while recovering from injury, while others book monthly or seasonally for stress relief and maintenance. Your therapist can recommend a schedule that best supports you.
